At UNGA81, the United Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is bringing the voices and experience of local women-led organizations to the center of conversations on the future of multilateral financing — demonstrating how flexible and transformative financing can deliver across crises and sustain peace.
As the world faces increasingly interconnected crises, from armed conflict and forced displacement to climate-related insecurity, political instability, and growing inequalities, the international system is under pressure to respond in ways that are more coherent, effective, and locally driven.
At the same time, shrinking humanitarian and development resources are making it more urgent to rethink not only how much we finance, but how financing works.
For WPHF, the answer starts with those closest to the realities on the ground.
For a decade, we have invested directly in local women-led and women’s rights organizations, supporting them to respond to crises, prevent conflict, protect communities, and advance sustainable pleace. In doing so, we have developed a financing model that is innovative, responsive, and transformative — one that bridges humanitarian action, peacebuilding, and recovery while shifting resources and decision-making closer to the women leading change in their communities.
And as WPHF marks 10 years of impact and solidarity, we are bringing these lessons, rooted in the experiences and leadership of our local civil society partners, to the heart of UNGA81.

UNGA81 is a moment to make visible what WPHF and its partners have learned over the past decade: when financing is designed around the realities of local women-led organizations, it can help bridge silos, strengthen local leadership, and deliver more effectively across crises.
But the conversation does not end in New York.
It continues in Geneva at the Global Women’s Peace Forum, where frontline women peacebuilders, humanitarians, and human rights defenders will come together with Member States, UN entities, and other partners to build on these lessons and advance practical solutions for advancing women’s leadership in building peace.
As WPHF marks its 10th anniversary, the Forum will be a moment to turn a decade of experience into momentum for the future — reaffirming that peace is possible when it is inclusive, responsive, and led by women.
