Rapid Response Window: Direct Support

Français Español العربية Русский

The Rapid Response Window does not support community focused initiatives.

Direct Support (currently open for applications)

The applicant will NOT be receiving funding

The Direct Support stream allows a civil society organization (CSO) – including informal women’s groups, associations and networks, and unregistered civil society organizations – to request that WPHF finances the provision of services to enable women’s participation and/or influence in a formal peace process or peace agreement implementation.

This includes logistical and technical support – such as the cost of childcare, access for persons with disabilities, interpretation or translation needs, expert advisory support, travel arrangements, etc.

WPHF pays for the cost directly so that the required service is provided rapidly. Once WPHF has paid for the service, the CSO uses the service to support its work on women’s meaningful participation in peace processes or peace agreement implementation.

Please note, financing for CSO projects is not eligible under Direct Support. Successful applicants receive services, not a grant. Services will be purchased and arranged directly from the WPHF RRW Secretariat or its partners on behalf of selected applicants.

The Direct Support can cover services for a duration of up to six months maximum. Initiatives that require funding under this stream may be as short as a few days. The maximum estimated cost of services cannot exceed 25,000 USD. There is no minimum request.

There is no deadline for applications. The RRW is demand driven and accepts submissions on a rolling basis.

Who can apply?

  • Only local and national CSOs  (especially women-led) whose work seeks t increasing women’s participation in a specific track 1 or track 2 peace process, or specific peace agreement monitoring and implementation mechanisms in the country can apply. Proposals which do not address Track 1 or 2, or peace agreement implementation will be excluded.”
  • Civil society organizations do not need to be formally registered. Informal groups, including women’s associations and networks, are encouraged to apply.
  • Current and former WPHF grantees can apply for Direct Support as it is not a grant.
  • CSOs can apply on their own, or as a coalition or consortium with a lead CSO applicant
  • The RRW does NOT support projects for women’s participation in political decision making that are not related to a peace agreement, nor does it finance broader work towards WPS and other peacebuilding objectives.
  • Community-focused peacebuilding activities and non-urgent initiatives are NOT eligible and will be immediately dismissed.
