Event Overview

The “Peace Is All of Us” Summit Series are a cornerstone of the “Peace Is” global movement – a new multi- stakeholder campaign launched by WPHF and its partners to redefine peace as bold, feminist, and rooted in local leadership.

At the heart of the campaign, the summits take the form of intergenerational dialogues bringing together key stakeholders across sectors and generations. They serve as a platform to show that peace is not a relic of the past, but it is being built and sustained every day and we all have a role to play in finding inclusive solutions to conflict and crisis. These summits also offer an opportunity to demonstrate how global commitments have been — and can continue to be — transformed into sustainable realities through multilateralism, climate resilience, economic empowerment, and social cohesion.

Following previous activations in London and New York, the Johannesburg “Peace is Ubuntu” Summit Event will feature a full day of dialogues at 22 on Sloane, with keynote addresses and interactive workshops exploring topics such as the “Possibility of Peace” and “Youth as Architects of Peace.”  The summit will include a high-level dialogue with Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Deputy President of South Africa and Former Executive Director of UN Women and will be followed by an interactive panel discussion in Cape Town on 23 November.

Designed as a reflective, intimate and immersive experience for 20 women leaders, the programme will begin with a meaningful visit to Robben Island, led by a former political prisoner, followed by a lunch at Cape Grace, where we will host an intimate fireside conversation featuring Pravina Makan-Lakha (ACCORD, WPHF’s RRW INGO partner), Tonni Ann Brodber (Head of the WPHF Secretariat), Carol Bouwer (WPHF Global Luminary) and Amrita Kapur (Secretary General, WILPF).
