The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is looking to strengthen collaboration with non-governmental organizations with expertise in enhancing women’s participation in peace processes and the implementation of peace agreements.
WPHF seeks to identify credible and experienced international or regional non-governmental organizations (I/NGOs) to support its Rapid Response Window (RRW) for women’s meaningful participation in peace processes and the implementation of peace agreements. The RRW addresses funding gaps for women peacebuilders and women’s rights civil society organizations in all ODA eligible countries to influence and participate in a Track 1 or Track 2 peace process or the implementation of a peace agreement.
The selected I/NGOs will provide support to women peacebuilders and women’s rights civil society organizations through both streams of the WPHF RRW: Direct Support, which provides logistical and technical services to increase the likelihood of a woman civil society representative or woman peacebuilder to engage in a peace talk; and Short-Term Grants, which provides grants to urgent projects that address diverse barriers to women’s influence and participation in Track 1 or Track 2 peace processes or the implementation of a peace agreement.
Examples of the types of support that I/NGO partners may provide include grant management, including providing technical and strategic support; capacity-building and guidance; knowledge management; and monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The selected I/NGO partner will also contribute to WPHF RRW efforts to promote local and national NGO interventions, as well as global advocacy for increased participation of women in formal peace processes at all levels.
- Eligibility
I/NGOs with technical expertise and longstanding commitment to supporting women’s meaningful participation in peace processes in fragile settings are eligible to apply. Organizations must also be experienced in working with local and national CSOs and women peacebuilders.
- Size of Grants & Funding
WPHF will grant a maximum of $1,000,000 USD to an I/NGO to deliver on activities to meet objectives. The partnership with the WPHF RRW will be for an initial period of 12 months and may be renewed.
