Achille Sommo

Achille Sommo is the Project Coordinator of the Rapid Response Window of the United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF). His work focuses on increasing women’s influence in formal peace processes and the implementation of peace agreements through partnerships with several INGOs, UN country offices, and local civil society organizations in ODA countries.

Prior to joining WPHF in 2022, Achille worked as a Women, Peace and Security Program Specialist at UN Women in Niger, where he managed several projects related to the implementation of the UNSCR 1325 National Action Plan, UN Peacebuilding Fund initiatives, and the Elsie Project. He previously worked at the Tocqueville Chair in Security Studies as a researcher on gender studies and international affairs.

Achille holds a PhD from the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Namur in Belgium.
