Meet Marie Roselore Aubourg

Marie Roselore Aubourg is the general coordinator and founder of the Women’s Movement for the Development of Grand-Anse (MOFEDGA), an organization aimed at fostering the socio-economic emancipation of women and girls and tackling gender-based violence (GBV). MOFEDGA brings together more than 100 women’s organizations working to promote women and girls’ rights.

Marie Roselore supported women who saw their source of income disappear in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Following the earthquake of August 14, 2021, she actively participated in distributing food and kits among pregnant women, young mothers, and disabled people in various accommodation camps, and carried out an awareness campaign to prevent cases of sexual violence and GBV in the municipalities most affected by the earthquake.

Through her radio station, which she set up in Jérémie, Haiti, Marie Roselore is actively informing and sensitizing the population on gender-related topics.

As part of the peer learning project with Myriam Narcisse from Haiti Adolescent Girls Network (HAGN), Marie Roselore from MOFEDGA will train the HAGN team on data collection, community resources mapping, and data analysis to better adapt their programs for youth. In addition, HAGN will train MOFDEGA members on the provision of psychological and legal support to young girls and adolescents.
